We put out hand printed goods like clothing, stickers, posters, and skateboards. Screen printing by hand is a dying art. Most clothing you find nowadays is cheaply made or printed with lower quality methods like DTF. We hope to keep the art of hand screen printing alive and put out cool shit.
The Process
First we burn the screen, which we have to do in a darkroom. We coat the screen in emulsion and let it dry in the dark overnight, before exposing it under a UV light with the design printed out to create a hardened stencil.
Then we throw the screen on the press and load a shirt in. We put ink on the screen and use a squeegee to push ink through the stencil. Usually we have to hit the ink layers with heat from the flash dryer to dry them before printing more on top to make the print opaque.
To cure the ink we have to hit it with more heat from the flash dryer for a longer time. Finally we put it in the heat press to make sure it cured all the way through.
It can be a tedious process with a lot of setup involved. Everything down to mixing the ink colors is done by hand. If one thing goes wrong it could throw everything off. But it takes skill to get a clean print, and we put effort into every piece.
